Advices for Your First Road Trip

January 4, 2019 by Toni Arnold

Making a car trip involves some difficulty more than the daily trips , even more so if we have a driver’s license a short time ago. That is why if we intend to carry out a long journey we must take some preliminary action. In addition, you need a suitable car for your road trip. This is where rental24h comes in handy. They offer a variety of cars at affordable prices.

A first step is to drive a vehicle that has received adequate maintenance. The second step is that the driver himself is in the best conditions to face this type of journey.

That said, I think there are a number of tips that a new driver must know before facing their first trip, and that do not concern either the state of the vehicle or the driver.

1) Learn looking.

If you are still a new driver you lack enough experience to deal with this type of route. Be patient, and you will discover that with time and kilometers you will improve as a driver.

If you are determined to do so, I recommend that at the next opportunity, let a person with experience be the driver , and you sit in the passenger seat watching their maneuvers in an active way.

2) Let yourself be advised.

Done this you are prepared to face your first trip, although it would be desirable that this time it was the experienced driver who sat on your right . Experience is a degree, and by doing trips, something ends up learning.

3) The load.

One of the circumstances that makes a trip of a normal journey different is how loaded the vehicle usually goes. It is for this reason that the advisable thing is that you do not make a trip with a car that you do not know .
This is because during a trip it is possible to face situations (a prolonged pronounced ramp) in which you need a good part of the available power, and you may be surprised by the loss of response that a vehicle can suffer when it is loaded, or by example, if you are using air conditioning.

4) Speed.

Adapt your speed to the road and to the concrete circumstances is fundamental, and this is why my recommendation is not about the maximum limits (it is clear that you never have to skip them), if not over the minimum.

You may feel more comfortable riding slower, but it is not recommended that you reach the minimum speed of the road as you would be increasing the scope risk.

5) Overtaking.

Linking with the previous point, you will surely have to overtake vehicles that circulate more slowly than you (mainly trucks). At the moment try to perform the maneuver with the greatest possible anticipation , do not wait to be stuck to the vehicle that precedes you to intersperse between the vehicles that circulate in the left lane.

If it still has not been possible for you, do not get nervous, keep the safety distance with the vehicle in front of you and wait to have the opportunity to overtake. If you drive a loaded car, going back to the previous thing, bear in mind that it is possible that it costs you more than you think to exceed it.Another aspect that can occur during the overtaking is to meet a driver whose precious time prevents you from waiting a few seconds to make the overtaking maneuver. If this individual decides to stick too much or give you bursts to get away, it is normal to get nervous, but do not be scared.

Do not exceed the maximum speed allowed because the driver behind you considers that you drive too slowly, simply return to your lane at the time you have safely passed the vehicle you wanted to overtake. Do not be tempted to reprimand him for the action he has just taken, it is simply not worth it.Always remember to hire your car of choice at rental24h.
